GEO Bambi Almond Unveiling + Review

So I got my new lenses in the mail a couple of weeks ago. I've worn them a couple times now so I think it's the perfect time for a review:

Why I chose GEO Bambi Almond:
I wanted something that wasn't too showy and looked natural. I also wanted to try something that was new too. The Bambi series just came out early this year and I thought if I was going to get new lenses then I better get something Tsubasa. I ended up picking the Almond one as it seemed the most modest.

UNVEILING~
This is actually my first time buying from honeycolor.com. It's a popular site that has good reviews and no major problems. But I'll still give it my ratings, so keep reading~
The lenses were nicely packaged inside their custom-made box. Presentation-wise, it was quite nice.
The lens bottles taken out. Excuse my high prescription and poor eyesight ^^;; I actually expected the labeling to look a lot nicer, but nonetheless they are your ordinary GEO lens bottles, nothing really to say about them.
The lenses from inside the bottle.
Yes, the infamous metal seal that gives us all headaches. I happened to break the first one, not surprised. If anyone's curious, I used the tiny screwdriver thing that comes with glasses to pry the rest of it open.
Everything laid out all nice. The lenses came with these cute frog cases. These are typical of most online circle lens sites nowadays. Remember to soak them in solution (not the liquid in the bottle =ˇ=) before you wear them for the first time. I usually leave them in there overnight the first time.
Close-up of the lens. As you can see, the GEO Bambi Almonds have a very distinct black rim. The almond colour is very natural looking. One plus I found with the design is that it leaves a lot of room for the pupil to expand and contract. This was a major problem for me with the GEO Nudes, I kept seeing the lenses since the room they left was very minimal. A thing to keep in mind if you need prescription lenses.
Lastly, don't forget to check the code. No matter how trusted the site is, it's still best to check!

HONEYCOLOR.COM REVIEW

CHOICE:
This site is awesome in terms of choice and stock. They pretty much have all the brands and lines. And the main thing is that most if not all are instock. Since I need prescription lenses, it's usually hard for me to get the right lenses right away. Especially with smaller-scale sites, I usually have to preorder, which takes over a months wait plus the shipping time. With honeycolor, my prescription is instock and shipped almost right away. I get my lenses much faster.

PRICE:
I haven't browsed around much recently, but I do remember awhile back (maybe a bit more than half a year ago?) when I was researching, honeycolor was the cheapest site. I don't think you'll have any regrets buying from honeycolor.com in terms of pricing. I paid with paypal, which is pretty typical and again no problems. They take echecks (I haven't tried that yet) and also credit cards.

SHIPPING:
This site provides standard as well as express shipping. They both come with an extra fee, $5.00 USD and $14.90 USD ~ $19.90 USD respectively. The express is not an option for me, I'm not willing to pay more for my lenses to come faster. There is free shipping with orders $100+ but I don't think that'll ever apply to me. I didn't run into too much trouble with the shipping. With standard shipping, I got a tracking code and my package arrived 2-3 weeks later, which is pretty standard. The reason why it's missing the star is because of the extra fee. I always like to see free shipping when I shop online. But anyways that's kind of my own problem...

PACKAGING:
The lenses came in a bubble wrapped envelope. I think the package was a little big for my mailbox, since the mailman came to my door. Or maybe that was because it needed to be signed. OK, NEVERMIND. Anyways, no worries about lens bottles breaking during the trip. Presentation wise it was nice. The box was very professional looking. Only minor thing (and why it didn't get the final star) was the instructions on the back of the box had some grammatical errors... Also the animal case that comes with it is randomly chosen. Something my sister was quite upset about. It's not really a big deal for me, but I guess for some people... But it's not like honeycolor can satisfy everyone's preferences now can they.

SERVICE:
I didn't really get to test out the service part, but their site is easy to navigate and the FAQs are quite clear. They send the typical emails on order progress to you. The site also has a points system that lets you exchange your points for gifts, which is a welcoming bonus. You receive one point for every dollar you spend (shipping not included).

IN SHORT...

Pros
  • lots of choice
  • almost everything's instock
  • cheap prices
  • nice packaging
  • comes with free animal case
  • points system

Cons
  • shipping fee is extra
Lastly, I will definitely shop at honeycolor.com again.

WEARING~

So as you can see, they are VERY natural looking. It doesn't even look like I'm wearing circle lenses? I almost wish that they looked a bit more obvious haha.

A close-up. They enlarge quite nicely. Against my asian brown eyes, there is not much of a difference in terms of colours.

While they look very natural, they're still capable of giving your eyes a dolly look. It's perfect for everyday wear and doesn't look too weird without makeup. I'm wearing really minimal makeup in these photos, just brown eyeliner and a bit of mascara.

GEO BAMBI ALMOND REVIEW

COMFORT:
These lenses are surprisingly comfortable! I wear contacts pretty much everyday, so I have dry eyes that are not so healthy, but these lenses are still very comfortable. They feel just like my normal contacts despite being a few milimetres larger. They can last the whole day. Compared to my GEO Nudes, these are very very good. My GEO Nudes, were very uncomfortable, I could feel the lenses and they dried out very quickly. Also the Bambi's, as I mentioned earlier, the space that is left for the pupil is very sufficient.
One thing to note is that it very very difficult to tell which side is the right side for these lenses! I struggle all the time taking them in and out. They look the same on both sides. And this is coming from someone that is a daily contacts wearer...

COLOUR: ☆
While they look very natural on Asian brown eyes, I kind of wished the colour was a bit more obvious. On one hand, I really like how natural they look and how I can wear them out without feeling too showy. On the other hand, I kind of want to look like I'm wearing circle lenses at least. dilemma...

DESIGN:
I really like the design. The black rim is just the right thickness and the colour (the almond) is the right amount too. It doesn't look pixelly on your eyes and manages to give your eyes a really dolly look. The shape of the colour matches the lines of your iris and blends in nicely.

ENLARGEMENT:
The enlargement is great. It's super natural and gives you the dolly look. The large size of the contacts aren't uncomfortable. Looks great with or without make up.

IN SHORT...

Pros
  • Very comfortable
  • Very natural looking design
  • Gives a natural dolly look
  • Great enlargement

Cons
  • Hard to tell which side is the right side
  • Colour doesn't show very well against Asian brown eyes
There's only one word for these lenses: NATURAL.

I'd like to try the other Bambi colours next time. Like I said, I wished the colour showed a bit more. I've found very comfortable well-designed lenses so I think I'll stick with these ones for quite a while!

the shet they put in my whitening masks

ok, so i decided to look up the uses of the basic ingredients of my Dr. Morita Whitening Essence Mask and see wtf the stuff does to my skin to whiten it...
( i haven't actually used the mask yet, but i'll review when im done with the box ^^)

on the front of the box: Rose  • Transexamic Acid  • Ellagic Acid  • Arbutin  • Hyaluronic Acid  • Q10  • 3-0-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid

Rose
the rose they mean is bulgarian rose that i've noticed are quite typical in whitening masks.it is supposed to provide high-moisture. so i'm guessing this is the moisturizing part of the mask.

Transexamic Acid
this thing.. is used to reduce bleeding. wtf. its often used to stop excessive bleeding and prescribed for irregular menstral bleeding. ok, so this is my theory. i couldn't really understand all the scientific crap, but this is my theory. so to stop the blood, this acid creates a blockage, like maybe new tissue. and new tissue is untanned so.....

Ellagic Acid
ellagic acid is just some natural thing often found in fruits and veggies. basically it's just some healthy supplement that some claim to reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer, although not enough research can prove it to actually work. anyways i guess they just decided to throw this acid in the mask since it's supposed to be healthy

Arbutin
ok here we go. this the actual skin lightening chemical. it's found in bearberry, wheat and the skin of pears. (better stock up on wheat and pears) it prevents the formation of melanin, thus lightening the skin. It may carry cancer risks, but also some claim it reduces cancer risks. (messed up world, i know) but who cares as long as i get paler and if it does cause cancer the billions of people who use this same mask go down with me >:D

Hyaluronic Acid
there's a whole bunch of info on this acid that i don't know where to start. basically its some enzyme found in our skin that plays an important role in tissue building (just imagine... something from the skin, on your own skin...) When skin is sunburnt, hyaluronic acid is reduced. it's often used in surgery for healing, most noted in eye surgery. It's also used for arthritis where the acid is supposed to lubricate the joints. for skin care, it's used as an injection to fill up the space between wrinkles. in other words it makes your wrinkles disappear. It is also used for lip augmentation and scar removal. so here's my theory again: in whitening the skin, this acid aids the skin to create new untanned tissue. but also if you have wrinkles and acne scars...

Q10
coenzyme Q10, as we all know, has all kinds of benefits for skin. so i wont go into too much detail

3-0-Ethyl Ascorbic Acid
AKA Vitamin C. It's, according to Shiseido, "A derivative of vitamin C that is the most recently developed whitening agent. Vitamin C ethyl acts rapidly, and gives the skin a translucent appearance". enough said.

ok, so aside from the arbutin, everything seems to be relatively risk free. this better lightening my [台]黑肉底[/台] (dark meat base... [literal translation]; one (an asian) that is born and has naturally darker skin).
most importantly, it does not have bleach ok?? haha (my white friend: that... doesn't have bleach in it does it?! me: NO! no? i think....?)

Intro

OK! so it's been awhile since i actually set-up this blog and it's just been sitting here due to my laziness...

Anyways, i thought i'd do an intro or a 'first post! XD' kinda thing since i don't really know where to start with this blog; and an intro seems to be the perfect thing to get me going? or at least i hope?

i've got a whole lot of things planned for this blog ^^ and hopefully it turns out like how i imagined... but it probably won't since in my imaginations i become a super famous blogger ehehehe.....

so unlike all of those cool bloggers that seem to be super rich and able to afford all kinds of brand-name products, im going to be as realistic as possible, since i'm that poor university student that is on loan every year...

like the title or slogan or whatever that is up there suggests, i'll be blogging about the standard asian must-haves: circle lenses, hair dyes, clothes, etc. (no make-up stuff, since im not really an expert on stuff like that and i don't usually wear make-up ^^;;;) all the stuff i'll be reviewing and talking about will be pretty cheap since, i have to stress again, i am super poor

but being asian there is this kind of duty and i kinda have to keep up even if i'm using the cheapest alternatives hahaha.

and i can't do with all those other random idolizations i have so bare with me as i rant and freak out.

anyways, thats all for now ;D
